Then a few days went by and great things happened. HUGE steps!
-Dr. J, our original physician, came back and resumed the triplets care :)
-Dane came off his nasal cannula, NO respiratory support
-Betsy got her very own crib :) and breastfed for the first time and rocked it
-Estelle and Betsy went to low flow or 'home oxygen' (if they go home with oxygen this is what it would be)
With all this progress came some things we needed to watch:
-potential heart murmur and intestinal hernia on baby Dane
-need for blood transfusion to increase oxygen saturation and lower respiratory rate for Betsy
When taking about Betsy, 'chronic lung disease' is usually mentioned. I HATE it. Effects can range from totally fine all the way to developmental delays. I cannot handle thinking that my baby girl may struggle because she was born premature. Because that is preventable. It was my fault, I couldn't carry them longer. Having a lot of guilt issues with this in particular.
So after a few days of trying to process all the good and the bad, it was time for their 2 month shots. First 1 of 3 shots was given yesterday. Six hours later they all crashed in the same order that they received their vaccinations. More episodes.
But again, in the midst of all this, great things happened.
This is actually the second time the triplets got together. Here they met in Betsy's room :) Details on their first reunion will follow in our Thanksgiving post!
